Our society chooses to experience one of life’s most blissful, powerful, ecstatic, transformative moments in fear, sadness, anger, and numbness, because of its fear of death.
Our society’s fear of death is evident in the drastic and irrational measures taken daily to try to prevent it.
Our society’s fear of death causes women to deny their innate childbearing abilities and natural mothering instincts, and succumb to medical management.
Our society’s fear of death causes men to silence their lover’s innate childbearing instincts and endanger her life by subjecting her to medical atrocities, instead of protecting, supporting, encouraging and caring for her during a natural, physiological process.
Our society’s fear of death is used to justify the horrendous treatment of women and babies in childbearing.
Our society’s fear of death is used to justify the barbaric practices involved in reproductive “care”.
Our society’s fear of death is used to justify the circus show that birth is known as today.
Our society is so afraid of death, that slavery and bondage are chosen over freedom.
Our society’s fear of death causes death, physically and psychologically.
“I would’ve died”. But are you living??
Fear is the root of control.
We are not God to control life and death.
The most powerful, transformative, meaningful moments in life require surrendering our control, and placing our faith and trust in the One who has numbered our days before we were even born.
We have to accept that our flesh is mortal, and our soul is immortal. We have to accept that death is not the end, it is the beginning. We have to accept that we aren’t owed life, not ours, not our children’s. We have to accept that attempting to control life will only result in us losing it. The very thing our society is determined to protect us from can bring us freedom.
If your decisions in life stem from the fear of death, you have so much beauty you are going to miss in your one life. Your fear of death will steal your freedom and the blessings that can be received in this life.
Instead of choosing to obsess over our control of life and choosing to submit to a system that falsely promises safety from death, childbearing invites us to grow close to our Creator. It invites us to face our fleshly mortality and our spiritual immortality.
It forces us to face our fears. It tests our faith and makes evident to us where our faith lies. It forces us to surrender the control we thought we had. It brings us to peace with our mortality. It brings us to prepare ourselves wholly- spiritually, mentally, emotionally, physically. It causes us to evaluate our life and sever things that are meaningless. It brings us to our Savior, to be cleansed, purified, renewed and strengthened.
Childbearing is a sacred season, full of preparation, purification and sanctification. It’s a season full of preparation, wisdom and valuable lessons for self development, spiritual growth, personhood and parenting.
Our society has defiled this season and reduced it to a mere medical event, full of pain, fear and trauma. It is so much more and it can be so much more if you choose to refrain from partaking in our society’s preferred way.
There is a purposeful reason why women’s hormones change in pregnancy so that she desires solitude, reflection, and preparation. This is intentional design so that you can naturally facilitate and experience this preparatory process. It’s already innate to you and you will naturally go through this process. This process may be messy and hard at times, but it will also come to you so naturally and familiarly. Embrace this process and allow it to transform you and prepare you.
You must choose to leave control with its true Master- with the One who is outside of time. The One who is the past, present and future; beginning and end. What better place to leave control with the One who is actually in control? What better place to leave control than in the hands that write your story? And your baby’s story?
Surrender your tight hold on your life. Surrender your fear, your anxiety, your control. Allow yourself to be filled with peace and faith in God. Allow His perfect love to drive out your fear. Embrace His promises for your life and your child’s life. Believe Him when He says He will not leave you, more forsake you.
Lay your fears down at the feet of Jesus, so that you can LIVE.
“Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul…” Matthew 10:28a
Meditate on these verses to help you release any fears:
“You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.” Psalms 139:13-16
“You have decided the length of our lives. You know how many months we will live, and we are not given a minute longer.” Job 14:5
“Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith? “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.” Matthew 6:27, 30, 34
“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
“You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you! Trust in the Lord always, for the Lord God is the eternal Rock.” Isaiah 26:3-4
“Oh, how great are God’s riches and wisdom and knowledge! How impossible it is for us to understand his decisions and his ways!” Romans 11:33
““My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:8-9
“It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in people.” Psalms 118:8
