Holistic Health: Spiritual Health

Many of us have become so focused on healing our bodies that we have forgotten the One who created us.

“For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.” Psalm 139:13

We’ve become obsessed with perfecting ourselves physically and mentally.

“But the Lord said to him, “Now you Pharisees clean the outside of the cup and of the platter; but inside of you, you are full of robbery and wickedness.” Luke 11:39

It’s not wrong to work on cleaning up your diet or striving for a low toxin lifestyle, but when that becomes your sole motivation and focus, it becomes your idol, and you can find yourself in a dangerous and unhealthy place.

“Troubles multiply for those who chase after other gods…” Psalms 16:4

“For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit…” Romans 14:17

If you’ve been placing your physical and mental health above your spiritual health, stop and repent.

Start reading God’s Word. Start praying. Start seeking Him and living a life of holiness.

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9

“Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’” Matthew 22:37

You will be surprised how your deteriorating spiritual health is the root cause of many of your mental and physical issues.

Being rooted in God first will bring you joy and healing that you won’t find in anyone or anything.

God will help you. He’ll help you with your physical needs. He cares for you and loves you. He will direct you to the right resources. But first, you have to draw near to Him so that you can hear him and his guidance for your life.

“…For the Lord your God is gracious and compassionate. He will not turn his face from you if you return to him.” 2 Chronicles 30:9

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28
