Nourishing Fourth Trimester Support

Serving families throughout Upstate South Carolina, postpartum doula support is designed to gently care for you as you recover, bond with your baby, and settle into the rhythm of new motherhood. Through nourishing care, practical support, newborn guidance, and a calm, compassionate presence, my desire is to help create space for rest so you can focus on what matters most: healing, connecting, and caring for your baby.

Women birth the next generation. They should be honored in postpartum with loving, nourishing care…not forgotten.

Postpartum Support Matters Even More Today

Birth is often seen as the finish line, but in many ways, it is only the beginning. As a new baby is welcomed into the world, a mother is also experiencing her own profound transformation. Her body is healing, her hormones are shifting, her family is finding a new rhythm, and she is learning to care for her baby while also learning to care for herself in this new season.

For generations, women were rarely expected to navigate this transition alone. Mothers, sisters, grandmothers, neighbors, and friends gathered around the postpartum family, preparing meals, tending the home, caring for older children, and holding the new mother so that she could rest and recover. Postpartum support was simply a part of welcoming new life.

Today, many families find themselves walking through the fourth trimester with far less support than previous generations. Partners often return to work quickly, extended family may live far away, and the expectation to “bounce back” can leave mothers feeling isolated or overwhelmed during one of the most physically, emotionally, and spiritually significant seasons of their lives.

Postpartum doula support helps restore a small piece of that village. It offers a calm, caring presence during the early weeks after birth while providing practical assistance, nourishment, encouragement, and space for a mother to heal at her own pace. Rather than expecting you to do it all, my hope is to help shoulder some of the everyday responsibilities so you can focus on recovering, bonding with your baby, and settling into the beautiful, transformative work of motherhood.

Every family looks different, and every postpartum journey is unique. Whether this is your first baby or your fifth, you deserve to be cared for as tenderly as you care for your little one. The fourth trimester is not something to simply get through, but a season worthy of being supported, nourished, and honored.

How you are tended to in the fourth trimester can impact you for life.

You are worth being loved on, cared for, and nourished.

Here’s what’s included in your care:

Nourishing the Mother

The mother is at the heart of the postpartum season, and she deserves to be cared for with gentleness and intention. My role is to create opportunities for rest and recovery by preparing nourishing herbal teas, herbal sitz baths, postpartum baths, or herbal foot soaks, simple meals and snacks, and keeping water and nourishing food within easy reach. I also provide belly binding, encourage a peaceful environment that supports healing, and offer compassionate companionship as you navigate the early weeks of motherhood.

Infant Care

As you and your baby begin learning one another, I’m here to offer both practical support and gentle encouragement. Whether you’re breastfeeding, bottle feeding, or doing a combination of both, I provide education, reassurance, and another set of caring hands. I can soothe and care for your baby while you shower or rest, offer babywearing support, help you understand newborn cues and normal infant behavior, and encourage you as you settle into your baby’s unique rhythms.

Body Balancing

Birth is a significant experience for both mother and baby, and the weeks that follow are a time of adjustment for the entire family. Gentle Body Balancing sessions for both mother and baby are available to support nervous system regulation and encourage greater comfort and ease during the postpartum season. For mothers recovering from a cesarean birth, Body Balancing sessions are available beginning 6–8 weeks postpartum to allow for appropriate healing.

Home Support

One of the greatest gifts I can offer is helping your home feel calm, cared for, and manageable while you focus on your recovery and your baby. Support may include lightly tidying the kitchen and living spaces, washing bottles or pump parts, folding laundry, emptying the dishwasher, refreshing your postpartum space, and preparing simple, nourishing meals that allow you to stay present with your family. If requested, I can assist with grocery pickup and unpacking, organizing postpartum supplies, and helping create simple daily rhythms that bring greater ease and order to life at home. My goal is to lighten the mental load so your family can focus on settling into this new season together.

Support for Older Siblings

Welcoming a new baby is a transition for the entire family, including older siblings. I enjoy helping children feel seen, included, and secure during this season by reading books together, playing quietly, creating simple crafts or activities, and spending intentional time with them. These moments not only support your older children as they adjust, but also create opportunities for you to rest, feed your baby, or simply enjoy a few uninterrupted moments.

Emotional Support

The postpartum season brings tremendous physical, emotional, and relational change. Sometimes the most meaningful support is simply having someone who listens without judgment and offers a compassionate presence. Whether you’re processing your birth story, navigating the emotional transition into motherhood, or finding your family’s new rhythm, I’m here to hold space, encourage you, and provide reassurance along the way.

Education

Every family deserves to feel informed and supported as they care for their newborn. Throughout our time together, I provide individualized education on normal postpartum recovery, newborn care, breastfeeding, babywearing, physiological infant sleep expectations, and gentle parenting. When additional support is needed, I’m also happy to provide trusted referrals and resources to help you continue receiving the care that’s right for your family.

Frequently Asked Questions

Postpartum doula support is $75 per hour with a three-hour minimum for each visit. This allows enough time to settle into your family’s needs and provide meaningful, unrushed support during our time together.

Support can begin at any point during your postpartum journey. While many families schedule visits during the first few weeks after birth, others find they need support months later as they continue adjusting to life with their baby. Whether your baby is a few days old or several months old, I’m happy to meet you where you are.

Postpartum doula support is available Monday through Saturday between 8:00 AM and 7:00 PM. At this time, I do not offer overnight or Sunday support.

No. My practice is centered on daytime postpartum support, allowing me to provide practical assistance, education, nourishment, and encouragement during the day while maintaining healthy rhythms for my own family.

I serve families within a 45-mile radius of Boiling Springs, South Carolina. Travel beyond this service area is welcome when my schedule allows; however, an additional travel fee will apply.

Yes. During our visit, I’m happy to prepare simple, nourishing meals and snacks using groceries already available in your home. If you’d like grocery pickup before a visit, this can often be accommodated as part of your scheduled support time with grocery costs remaining the family’s responsibility.

My role is to support the entire family during the postpartum season, but I do not provide babysitting or childcare while parents are away from the home. I enjoy caring for and engaging with older siblings while parents are present, creating opportunities for you to rest, feed your baby, or simply have a few quiet moments.

I’m happy to provide education on normal physiological infant sleep, newborn behavior, and age-appropriate expectations. However, I do not provide sleep training or sleep coaching services.

Before beginning postpartum support, I ask to meet everyone who will be regularly present in the home during my visits. This helps establish trust, answer questions, and ensure everyone feels comfortable with the support I’ll be providing.

Creating a safe and respectful environment is important for both your family and me. I reserve the right to decline or discontinue services at any time if I feel unsafe or uncomfortable in the home. In these circumstances, payments for unused scheduled support are non-refundable.

I understand that life with a new baby can be unpredictable. If you need to reschedule a visit, please provide as much notice as possible, and I’ll do my best to accommodate your family’s needs based on availability.

Because I also serve families as a birth doula, I remain on call for births throughout the month. While I make every effort to keep our scheduled postpartum visits, birth is inherently unpredictable, and there may be rare occasions when I’m called to attend a labor and need to reschedule a visit with little notice.

If this happens, I will contact you as soon as possible and work with you to reschedule your visit at the earliest mutually available time. I appreciate your understanding and flexibility, just as I extend the same grace to the families I serve when babies choose their own birthdays.

Not at all. Every postpartum experience is different, whether you’re welcoming your first baby or your fifth. Many experienced parents find postpartum support just as valuable as they adjust to caring for a newborn while meeting the needs of older children and navigating a new family rhythm.

While I do accept postpartum bookings when availability allows, I recommend reaching out during pregnancy to reserve your support. The postpartum season is unpredictable, and my availability is limited due to the number of families I serve and my on-call responsibilities as a birth doula. Planning ahead allows us to connect before your baby arrives, discuss your family’s needs, and create a support plan for your fourth trimester.

Absolutely. Partners are always welcome and encouraged to be present during postpartum visits. My support is not just for the mother or the baby, it is for the whole family as you adjust to this new season together. I love working alongside partners by offering encouragement, education, and practical support while helping everyone find their rhythm.

Every family has different needs during the postpartum season. Some families schedule a few visits for additional support during the early weeks after birth, while others choose ongoing support throughout the fourth trimester and beyond.

During our consultation, we can discuss your family’s unique circumstances, your support system, and what type of care would best serve you during this season.
